This small collection of persimmon necklaces are one of a kind! I had never seen or tasted a persimmon until I moved to Northern California. Once I discovered the fruit I became enamored! At the time I was doing a lot of experimenting with organic direct burnout casting, this series is the best of the persimmon castings. These pieces represent a very special time when life was a playful, light-hearted, exciting adventure with endless possibly.
For those who do not know about organic direct burnout casting process let me give a short description. The process starts with taking an organic item such as leaf, wood, shell or bone. You dry, clean and seal the item, sprue and invest the same as the lost wax cast process. The burnout process is a lot longer because you are heating the item until it burns away and turns to ash. The end result is a one off casting which is always somewhat experimental. I love the process and the experimental nature of it!
